If you cannot open the WSI file on your computer - there may be several reasons. The first and most important reason (the most common) is the lack of a suitable application that supports WSI among those that are installed on your computer. A very simple way to solve this problem is to find and download the appropriate application. The first part of the task has already been done – the software supporting the WSI file can be found below. Now just download and install the appropriate application. This site also defines other possible causes causing the problems with WSI files.
Possible problems with the files that are in the WSI format The inability to open and operate the WSI file does not necessarily mean that you do not have an appropriate software installed on your computer. There may be other problems that also block our ability to operate the Wise Windows Installer Project Format file. Below is a list of possible problems. Corruption of a WSI file which is being opened. Incorrect links to the WSI file in registry entries. Accidental deletion of the description of the WSI from the Windows registry.
Incomplete installation of an application that supports the WSI format. The WSI file which is being opened is infected with an undesirable malware. The computer does not have enough hardware resources to cope with the opening of the WSI file. Drivers of equipment used by the computer to open a WSI file are out of date. If you are sure that all of these reasons do not exist in your case (or have already been eliminated), the WSI file should operate with your programs without any problem. If the problem with the WSI file has not been solved, it may be due to the fact that in this case there is also another rare problem with the WSI file.
In this case, the only you can do is to ask for assistance of a professional staff.
Hi bishoy2013, Welcome to the Lenovo Community. A Windows System Image (.wsi) file is a full restore file and you can't pick any folders/files that you want to restore. You can't also mount it unlike VHD files or open it under DOS. What you can try is to: 1.
Restore the image by pressing button and point to the.wsi backup from your flashdrive to view the files (assuming you haven't deleted the hidden partition) 2. If the hidden partition is already deleted, you will need another lenovo PC that's preloaded with Windows 8. You will then need to copy the recovery partition from the other computer to your Lenovo PC using or as mark the partition as Primary and Active - this will load up the One Key Recovery 8.0 which allows you to restore the.wsi image. Using another PC and do a and browse to your USB flashdrive backup.
Use a.wsi file opener software like (haven't tested this since I don't have a Windows 8 machine available). Hope this helps. Hi neokenchi, Can Windows recovery can read.wsi image? O&O DiskImage can be set to do this automatically so that data can be backed up, for example, once a week. To save disk space, you can set the maximum number of backups that should be saved so that old ones are automatically replaced by new ones. Quick and easy system restore – even onto different hardware Restoring a backup with O&O DiskImage is as easy as pie: all you have to do is start the program, select the backup you want to restore, and you’re off. Included with the software is our machine independent restoration which means your old backup can be transferred 1:1 onto a new machine.
Hardware of a different make will be automatically recognized and Windows settings will be carried out by themselves. If you only need to restore a single personal file or folder, you can mount the backup as a virtual drive and then using Windows Explorer simply select and copy whatever you want. That’s all there is to it!
